FALL in love with this Creamy Marsala Farfalle recipe made with mushrooms, caramelized onions, and creamy marsala wine sauce. This is an inspired recipe from a popular restaurant dish, and I am loving this version I can easily make at home. Top this with your favorite meat of choice (I prefer meatless) and enjoy the beautifully creamy, sweet, and earthy umami flavors of my Marsala Farfalle pasta!
What is Marsala?
Marsala is a type of Italian wine that is fortified with brandy! This can have an either dry or sweet taste to it, making it suggested for cooking purposes just like most other dry wines.
Also, beware that while most marsala cooking wines are stocked in the food section of a store rather than where the alcohol is kept, the product still contains a higher alcohol content. With that, you might still get carded! Just an FYI for your ingredient-purchasing experience.
What is Marsala Cream Sauce Made Out of?
Now, with our marsala, we will be creating a gorgeous cream sauce that incorporates a combinations of onions, garlic, butter, flour, marsala wine (of course), heavy cream, and herbs.
This is a simple yet powerfully delicious pasta sauce that’ll take you from the restaurant and right into your own kitchen. There’s a hint of sweetness coming from the caramelized onions, and note that the more they’re cooked, the sweeter they get! This is something to keep in mind while creating your sauce.
