No, not MASHED potatoes, these are SMASHED. Same concept, different taste, and less ingredients. My Rosemary Garlic Smashed Potatoes recipe takes out the butters and creams in a standard mashed potato recipe, but adds an amazing, browned crispiness and earthy, herby flavors from the garlic and rosemary!
Tips to a Perfect Smashed Potatoes
- Buy baby potatoes! They’re smaller and will cook faster, plus, they’re delicious!
- Use the bottom of a cup or a small plate to smash the potatoes rather than a fork. If you’re feeling a little stressed, feel free to use your fist instead, haha.
- Use fresh rosemary if possible. Fresher flavors are always better!
- I personally like to grate the garlic rather than mincing, because it releases more flavor and you’ll get the perfect smashed potatoes taste.

Ingredients
- 2 lbs baby potatoes
- 2 garlic cloves, grated
- 2 tsp freshly chopped rosemary
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 4 tbsp olive oil

How to Make Rosemary Garlic Smashed Potatoes
- Wash the potatoes, then put them in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook for about 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes are soft inside when pierced.

2. When the potatoes are done, drain them and layer onto a baking sheet. Smash each potato with the bottom of a cup or whatever you have handy.

3. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix the garlic, rosemary, salt, pepper, and olive oil. Then, rub over the potatoes, coating them evenly.

4. Heat the oven to 450F and bake the potatoes for about 25 minutes until they are nicely golden and crispy!
