It uses Calabrian chilies, of course, which are native to the southern region of Calabria, Italy. It’s also mixed with simple ingredients like garlic and olive oil to enhance its remarkable flavor.
What You’ll Need for this Calabrian Cheese Tortellini Recipe
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp Calabrian chili sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup half and half
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp butter
- 8 oz cheese tortellini
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan
How to Make Your Perfect Creamy, Calabrian Cheese Tortellini

- First, Cook the tortellini in salted water according to its package directions.
- Meanwhile, in a larger skillet, heat the olive oil. Then add the garlic, and cook for a couple of minutes until fragrant.
- Next add in the Calabrian chili sauce, the heavy cream, half and half, and salt. Bring all of this to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes on low heat. Mix often and you will notice the sauce start to thicken here!
- Following that, add in the butter and let it melt.
- Finally, add in the cooked tortellini and the parmesan. Mix well and serve in your favorite pasta bowl/plate!
